#Lunchbag: Food for Thought

The kitchen table is covered with lunch bags, each with its own message: #smile, #not alone, #encourage. A team of 20 youth are stuffing the bags with sandwiches, bananas, and snacks. They’ve been here since early this morning, making stews and homemade jam to serve to the community.

Heroes Taking Over Toronto (twice!)

This year, we have not one, but TWO Hero Days. Our Heroes are taking over the city on Thursday, February 9 AND Thursday February 23 – watch for our green on the CN Tower and Nathan Philip Square's TORONTO sign, and watch for our Second Harvest Heroes decked out in bright green masks and capes, on the TTC and PATH, fighting the injustice of food waste. Youth Winning Youth: Enriching Weston

A new Second Harvest recipient agency, YWY is staffed entirely by volunteers, with Mellina Orr at its helm. This energetic part-time child and youth worker founded YWY in 2009 with a mission to inspire and empower youth to become future mentors through active community engagement and dynamic programming.
