Second Harvest needs Funds and Food.

 

Funds

SECOND HARVEST DOES NOT rely on any on-going government funding or United Way funding. We depend entirely on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations.
  

Ways you can donate:

  • Join Partners Against Hunger, our monthly giving program

 Tributes

  • When you call Second Harvest and make a donation in someone's honour, we'll mail out a card to let this individual know that they were in your thoughts.
  • When you send a donation to commemorate a loved one's memory, we'll send the next of kin a card honouring your generosity in memorium.
  • To order tribute cards for the holidays, please call our office at 416.408.2594.

Please allow 3 to 5 business days for processing and mailing.

Get creative in your giving!

  • Many companies have a matching gift program - ask your employer if they will match your gift to Second Harvest, and double the impact of your generosity.
  • Consider a donation of stocks and securities and save on your taxes.

Food

SECOND HARVEST IS ENTIRELY dependent on the generosity of food donors, who are willing to donate their surplus food to help feed those in need. Donating food to Second Harvest could save your company thousands of dollars as well as help save the environment (from unnecessary landfill). Second Harvest will provide you with a regular, reliable pick-up service for your surplus food. You'll pay no waste management costs and no pick-up or delivery costs. Our larger food donors are saving thousands of dollars a month.
 
Second Harvest can provide regular reports based on your food donations that can help your organization reduce surplus and reduce costs. Please review Second Harvest's Food Donation Guide to see what food we will accept and how we can arrange for pick-up.
 
You are not liable for any risk associated with your donation. Second Harvest food donors are protected by Ontario's Donation of Food Act, 1994. This legislation protects those who, in good faith, donate or distribute fresh food.

Our Wish List

SECOND HARVEST IS ALSO always looking for help in maintaining and supplying our office with the tools needed to help feed the hungry. Currently we are in need of:
  • Electric pallet mover
  • Industrial Floor Sweeper
  • A skid tilt bed
  • Ringer buckets on wheels
  • Clean, new foil trays/containers for prepared foods
  • Clean, new cardboard boxes for food sorting
