From coast to coast to coast, Second Harvest and our network of donors, non-profits and volunteers are making a difference in the lives of people facing food insecurity and protecting the planet we call home.

As hunger has significant impact on an individual's physical, mental and cognitive well-being, to provide ample and nourishing food to our participants has greatly improved both our ability to support individuals and the overall atmosphere at Thrive. We are thoroughly grateful for this partnership for providing us with such an irreplaceable resource!

Since our partnership with Second Harvest, we've been able to rescue hundreds of thousands of pounds of food. The impact of the food that we recover is absolutely amazing. We have a lot more people having to turn to food banks that are simply not able to make ends meet at the end of the month ... And we want to always let those people know that we're not here to judge. We just want to make sure that you have what you need to be able to feed your families.

There are two primary benefits. The first, of course, is that [rescued food] lowers our food costs. But the second I'd consider a better benefit — people eat better food. Everybody knows that fresh food is more expensive than dry goods and packaged foods. The majority of the food that we receive [from Second Harvest] is fresh and we get an opportunity to feed that to people here.
We’re proud to support food rescue across Canada, rescuing food from coast to coast to coast, as we work towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
