Our partnership with Second Harvest has helped deliver hope, joy and nutrition to dozens of agencies and thousands of people. Second Harvest has provided valuable connections which enabled us to rescue and redistribute everything from 36,000 lbs of oranges to over one million pieces of chocolate! On behalf of the agencies we serve, we’re grateful to Second Harvest and their donors for bringing us opportunities to help feed our communities.

We are truly grateful for Second Harvest’s ongoing support of our community. In Kugluktuk, where food costs are among the highest in Canada and many families face significant financial hardship, the annual barge donation is critically important. Although the shipment supports us for a few months, during that time it allows us to directly assist our most vulnerable households — including elders, single-parent families, and those experiencing food insecurity. The donation helps stabilize families who are struggling to meet their most basic daily needs and provides meaningful relief in a region where affordable food options are extremely limited. Support like this has a profound impact in the North. Your partnership not only helps feed people — it strengthens our community and ensures that those who are most vulnerable are not left behind. We are deeply thankful for this continued support.

We have many families that have been renovicted, living in hotels with little children. It breaks my heart, but we’re able to give them some relief. Maybe they can even save a little for first and last month’s rent [with food support] and find somewhere new. Thanks to Second Harvest, we’re getting food to feed individuals, single parents and full families who are working two jobs.
