LFIF: Community Support Stream

Second Harvest is pleased to be one of two organizations selected by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) to receive funding from the Local Food Infrastructure Fund (LFIF): Community Support Stream (CSS)

Funding will be distributed to eligible non-profit organizations across Canada through an open, equitable and merit-based application process.

It's purpose is to support these organizations in the acquisition of food and equipment to increase their capacity to distribute food to communities facing food insecurity.

To be considered for funding through the LFIF-CSS, applicants must apply through one of the initial recipient organizations, such as Second Harvest.

Key project outcomes include:
  • Organizations have increased capacity to deliver community food security programs.
  • New partnerships between organizations are created to undertake community-led action on food.
  • Food environments are improved within communities.
  • Strengthened community food security.
